Mini Piling Process

This is probably the first time that you have had to deal with piled foundations. For many visitors to this website the idea of piling is daunting as it is something unknown. In order to make things more self explanatory we've put together below a simplified list of the steps involved, from finding out that you need a piled foundation to having one installed...

  • You find out that you need a piles as opposed to a traditional foundation - your architect, engineer or building control officer has probably pointed this out. You panic as you think piled foundations are complex, difficult to organise and expensive.
  • Don't panic - putting in a piled foundation is nowhere near as expensive or difficult as some people make out. Get in touch and we will arrange to come and see you to survey the site at no cost to yourselves. You will have architects plans or an engineers design and we will collect a copy of these. Alternatively please send a copy of your plans to info@pennineminipiling.co.uk.
  • From the architects plans or engineers design for your project we will supply an estimate for the full foundation package enabling you to build off the finished foundation we provide.
  • You contact us to confirm you would like us to install your piled foundation.
  • Once we have received your order for the work we will arrange for our structural engineer to provide the design and calculations for your foundation as required by building control.
  • We will arrange with you a date to begin installing the piled foundation. This can be as soon as possible or booked weeks in advance.
  • If needed a pre-start site meeting can be arranged to ensure that you are aware of what we are going to be doing and what we require on site.
  • We arrive on the pre-arranged start date and begin to install the foundation. The average timescale for the complete piled foundation to a domestic extension is 2-3 days; this can stretch to 2-3 weeks for a new build property.
  • We arrange to meet your local building control/warranty supplier so that they can check the foundation prior to us finishing. We pour concrete and leave this at a level suitable on which your brickwork can be laid.
  • Finally our structural engineer's calculations together with our pile logs and pile design will be sent out to both you and building control.

Please feel free to contact us at any time to discuss any of the above.
